INTERNALLY THREADED BUSHING FOR ARC WELDING (TYPE ID)

ELEMENTS FOR SHORT ARC AND DRAWN ARC WELDING

WITH INTERNAL THREAD FROM M5 TO M16

The internally threaded arc welding bushings (type ID) are part of the range of components for drawn arc and short arc welding, and are used to create or restore internal threads inside pre-existing holes on materials such as metal, plastic or wood.

These inserts are particularly useful when the original thread is damaged, worn out or unsuitable for supporting high mechanical loads. Installing a threaded bushing strengthens the fastening point by improving resistance to tension, fatigue, and tear. The choice of bushing type depends on several factors, including the type of base material, expected stresses in service, and the installation method.

The internally threaded arc welding bushing (type ID) is supplied complete with ceramic ferrule. The insert is internally threaded, with thread length varying depending on the bushing diameter. Available thread sizes range from M5 to M16, making this element suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

The bushing installation (type ID) can be carried out with drawn arc welding using an arc stud welder and ceramic ferrule, or alternatively with gas-shielded arc welding, in environments requiring a cleaner and more controlled process. In the latter case, certain limitations related to welding parameters and base material must be taken into account.

Production of the threaded bushing (type ID) uses materials compliant with international standards:

  • Steel 4.8, for standard applications
  • Stainless steel A2-50, for humid or mildly corrosive environments
  • Stainless steel 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti), for chemically aggressive environments or high operating temperatures

FAQ and insights

Internally threaded studs are characterised by the presence of threads within the bore. This allows them, once welded to capacitor discharges, to be screwed onto screws or threaded shafts, providing a secure connection. They are often used in various industrial and mechanical applications.

Internally threaded nuts are available in a variety of materials. In A.T.S. Lamberti you will find threaded nuts in stainless steel, copper-plated 4.8 steel, aluminium and brass. The choice of material depends on the specific requirements of the application, especially the material in which the item on which the threaded nut will be welded is made.
