The arc welding stud (type PD) is a partially threaded stud designed for applications requiring strong fastening while keeping the weld zone completely free of threads. Unlike the (type MPF) model, where the thread extends almost to the welding end, the stud (type PD) has a clearly defined unthreaded area between the thread and the welding section. This added distance ensures better penetration of the molten pool and more stable anchoring to the base material, reducing the risk of thread interference during welding.
The stud (type PD) retains the same mechanical properties as the (MPF) model, making it suitable for a wide range of structural applications such as metal fabrication, steel construction, plant engineering, and machinery manufacturing. It is available with threads ranging from M6 to M24 and is supplied complete with a ceramic ferrule, ready for use in industrial environments where safety, strength, and compatibility with automated or semi-automated processes are required.
Welding can be carried out using drawn arc with a ceramic ferrule and a stud welding machine, or alternatively, with proper precautions, by gas-shielded arc welding, especially in environments that require cleaner welds and reduced spatter or emissions.
Production of the stud (type PD) is carried out using materials compliant with international standards:
