SHEAR CONNECTOR FOR ARC WELDING (TYPE SD)

ELEMENTS FOR SHORT ARC AND DRAWN ARC WELDING

SHEAR CONNECTOR (NELSON TYPE): FOR STEEL BEAMS AND CONCRETE SLABS CONNECTION

The shear connector (type SD) for arc welding is supplied complete with a ceramic ferrule and welded using an arc welding generator. The process involves the ignition of an electric arc that simultaneously melts the end of the stud and the surface of the underlying sheet metal, creating a highly resistant structural joint.

The ceramic ferrule, included with the welding stud (type SD1), serves to contain the molten metal, protect it from oxidation, and help form a weld collar around the stud base, enhancing mechanical anchorage to the steel support.

The hear connector (type SD1), Nelson type, is mainly used to connect steel beams and concrete slabs, ensuring a monolithic behaviour of the assembly under static and dynamic loads.

The stud is produced in two material variants: S235J2+C450 steel for standard applications and stainless steel 1.4301 for more aggressive environments or when higher corrosion resistance is required.
