Many productions of resistance welding require the welding of studs on metal sheets, these welds are carried out with the use of special copper alloy electrodes for welding of studs.
The electrodes for welding of studs consist of two components: the first component that has the mounting cone on the electrode support while the second component, with an insulated brass cylinder pressed on the electrode which in the central part has a hole corresponding to the diameter of the electrode; the outer part containing the brass cylinder is conical.
On this cone is mounted a conical cap that matches with the electrode just described.
Each type of thread of the welding stud needs its own copper alloy welding electrode called the cap holder with its cap that becomes the interchangeable component subject to wear.
Copper alloy electrodes provide the necessary strength to withstand the pressure during welding, ensuring an even current flow and efficient resistance welding.
Our welding electrodes are made of copper alloy: we supply copper alloy electrodes defined as 'standard' and offering good electrical and thermal conductivity, we can supply copper alloy electrodes to customer specifications.
The choice of welding electrode depends on several factors:
Material to be welded: it is essential to use a copper alloy electrode compatible with the material to be welded.
Sheet metal thickness: the thickness of the sheet metal determines the diameter of the electrode to be used and the geometry of the electrode tip.
Type and position of welding: resistance welding of the workpiece sometimes requires different electrode characteristics depending on the positioning of the welding spot to be welded.
